Some of the 1,261 cottages on Totterdown Fields were built as two flats, one on the ground floor and one above, with three rooms each. Whichever half you live in, oven cleaning in Tooting with Cleaning Oven is £77 for a single oven.

In 2021 the Tooting Bec, Tooting Broadway and Trinity wards counted 18,530 households between them. More than half (56.3%) lived in flats: purpose-built blocks accounted for 32.1% of households and flats inside converted or shared houses for 21.5%. Private renters (40.9%) were almost as many as owners (43.9%). The postcodes are SW17 and SW12, in the borough of Wandsworth.

Upstairs and downstairs flats on the cottage estate

The London County Council began cottage estates with this one. Totterdown Fields went up between 1901 and 1911 around Franciscan Road and Lessingham Avenue, mostly two-storey houses in yellow stock brick. In one of the cottage flats the oven is most likely a built-in single or a freestanding cooker. Count the doors and measure the width before you ring. One door at up to 60 cm is a single; two doors at that width is priced as a double oven at £110, with two trays included. For the upper flat, say whether the street door is yours alone or shared with the flat below, and which bell to press. Once inside, the cleaner lifts out the shelves, tray and runners to soak, then works by hand on the oven walls, both sides of the door glass and the rubber seal.

Licensed lets in Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway wards

From 1 July 2025 the council has required a selective licence for ordinary private lets in Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway wards. Trinity ward, round Tooting Bec station, sits outside that designation. Either way, a landlord or agent with a flat standing empty between tenants can book the oven for those days. Someone must be there to open up, because the company holds no keys, and the electricity and water stay connected. Thick carbon on the walls and racks usually lifts. Chipped enamel, rust and scratched glass stay as they were, so note them on the inventory. The end of tenancy oven clean can be the oven alone or the oven with a standard hob and hood, £117 with a single.

Parking by house number on Franciscan Road

Where the cleaner parks on Franciscan Road depends on the house number. The higher numbers are zone E2, with bays controlled from 9.30am until 5.30pm six days a week and a four-hour limit, while the lower numbers, up to 106 on the even side and 181 on the odd, are zone D3, controlled on weekdays only, 9.30am to 4.30pm. Odd numbers 133 to 199 are reserved for permit holders between 10am and 11am, Monday to Friday. Wandsworth issues visitor permits for one named zone, so an E2 permit is no use in a D3 bay. Trinity Road is a red route, and on parts of its SW17 stretch the bays are for permit holders only from 11.30am to 12.30pm on weekdays, while one stretch limits a paid stay to two hours, short for a double or a range. If the cleaner pays for a bay, that amount goes on your bill, capped at £40.

Questions about oven cleaning in Tooting

Tooting High Street is a red route. Can the cleaner park on it?

Yes, in its marked bays. Along the red route on Tooting High Street the zone E1 and E2 bays are controlled from 9.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, with a stay of up to four hours. Whatever the cleaner pays for the bay goes on your bill at that figure, never above £40.

Can a tenant book the oven before handing the flat back?

Yes. The tenant agrees the date on the call, pays half the price up front by card or transfer and is in to let the cleaner start. With 48 hours’ notice the date can move, and the deposit is either refunded or kept for the later visit.

How long does a single oven take in an SW17 flat?

Plan on something between 40 minutes and an hour and a half for a single, longer when the carbon is thick. Nobody gives a finish time in advance. The price list shows every item, from a single oven to a hob added on.
