BBQ cleaning in London with Cleaning Oven is £64 for a small barbecue and £100 for a large one, with a cooking area over 50 cm. A small one booked alone comes to the £67 minimum, and the cleaner works where the barbecue stands.

That might be a balcony off a flat, a patio behind a terrace or the far end of a garden. It is a job people book before the summer or after it, and the kitchen oven can go on the same visit.

Small or large: measuring the cooking area

A large barbecue, on this price list, is one with a cooking area over 50 cm. Measure the grill across its widest side. Anything at or under 50 cm is a small barbecue.

BarbecuePrice
Small barbecue£64
Large barbecue, cooking area over 50 cm£100

The small barbecue price sits below the £67 minimum for a visit. Booked with nothing else, a small barbecue is charged at £67; added to an oven or another item, it is charged at £64. A large barbecue is above the minimum either way. Give the measurement on the form or the call, and say whether it runs on gas or charcoal.

Grills and trays soak while the body is cleaned by hand

The grills and the trays, the fat or drip tray included, are lifted out first and put in to soak, then cleaned separately. Meanwhile the body and the lid are cleaned by hand, inside and out, at the spot where the barbecue stands. When the soaked parts are done they go back in. Burnt-on carbon and charred grease on the grills usually lift. Rust does not, and neither does paint or an enamel coating that has blistered or flaked: those are damage to the metal, and cleaning leaves them as they are. Equipment and products come with the cleaner, along with everything used for the soak.

How does the cleaner reach the barbecue?

Usually through the property itself, carrying the equipment and products from the front door to wherever the barbecue is. For a balcony that usually means through the living room; for a garden, through the hall and kitchen or round by a side gate. Tell the office on the call how the cleaner gets there. A locked side gate or a shared roof terrace changes the plan. In a block, a lift makes the job easier to set up, so mention whether there is one and which floor you are on. Clear a path to the barbecue before the visit, and move plants or mats away from the doorway.

Booking the barbecue with the kitchen oven

A barbecue fits well on the same visit as the oven, which suits anyone getting ready to cook for a crowd in the garden. Each item keeps its own price: a single oven is £77, so a single oven with a small barbecue is the two prices added. The oven cleaning page describes the kitchen side of that visit, and every appliance is listed on the price list, including the hob and extractor. Dates are agreed on the call. Ring from 8am to 7pm, any day; a Sunday visit is possible only sometimes, so check with the office first.

Getting the barbecue ready

Let the barbecue go cold after its last use, and take the cover off if it has one. Move anything stored on the lid or the side shelves, and if it stands under a gazebo or close to a wall, leave room for the lid to open fully. The cleaner needs water and power from the home, so leave both on. Paid parking for the cleaner, a meter or a pay-and-display ticket, is passed on as it was charged, to a limit of £40. In a residents’ permit zone, say so on the call.

Questions about BBQ cleaning

Is a gas barbecue cleaned the same way as a charcoal one?

Yes. On both kinds the grills and trays come out to soak, while the body and lid are done by hand. On a gas barbecue no gas work of any kind is done, so the hose and the gas bottle are left as they are.

Does the barbecue need to be moved before the visit?

No. A barbecue is cleaned where it stands, so leave it in its usual spot. Clear some space around it and a way through to it from the door.

Will rust come off a barbecue grill?

No. Burnt-on food and carbon usually lift from a barbecue grill. Rust and flaking coatings are damage to the metal, so they stay after the clean.

Can I book a barbecue without the oven?

Yes. A large barbecue booked alone is £100, and a small one booked alone comes to £67, the lowest charge for any visit. Other questions about visits, deposits and cancelling are answered on the oven cleaning questions page.
