To book the right oven clean, count the doors and measure the width. This guide defines each oven type Cleaning Oven prices, from a 60 cm single to a four-oven AGA, then sets them side by side in one table.

A price only changes at the door if the oven is a different type or size from the one booked. A grill inside a single oven and a few centimetres of width are the two details to check.

Ovens of the standard 60 cm width

These two fit the standard 60 cm space, and the number of doors sets the price.

Single oven

A single oven is one cavity behind one door, made to the standard width of about 60 cm, either fitted in the kitchen units or set under the hob of a freestanding cooker. It is £77, and the single oven cleaning page walks through the visit.

Double oven

A double oven has two cavities stacked in one standard-width appliance, each behind its own door, with the big main oven at the bottom and a smaller top oven that usually holds the grill. It is £110, covered on the double oven cleaning page.

Wider cookers on the price list

From about 90 cm across, the width and the number of cavities decide the price.

Single wide oven

A single wide oven is a cooker about 90 cm across whose oven is one big space behind one door. It is £114.

Half range oven

A half range oven is the smaller of the cavities on a range cooker, priced by itself at £73.

Complete range cooker, 90 cm

A complete range is a freestanding range cooker 90 cm wide, with all of its ovens cleaned on the one visit for £143.

Master range cooker, 100 cm or more

A master range is a range cooker that measures 100 cm or more from side to side, at £167. The range cooker cleaning page explains both range prices and the parts priced apart from the ovens.

AGA and other heat-storage cookers

An AGA is a cooker that stores heat in cast-iron ovens, and traditional models stay on all the time; it is priced by its number of ovens. A two-oven AGA, Rayburn or Stanley is £143, a four-oven AGA £187 and a side module £100. The AGA cleaning page covers the cool-down before the visit.

Any paid parking the cleaner needs is charged on top at cost, to a limit of £40. Your postcode can shift the total as well; the form and the office will give you the exact figure for your home. Hobs, extractors, microwaves and the other items are on the oven cleaning price list.

Measuring the width of a cooker

Measure across the front at the widest point, from the outer edge of one side to the outer edge of the other, with the doors shut. For a built-in oven, measure the frame around the door. Cookers are sold in set widths, so a reading a little under 60 cm is a 60 cm oven and one just short of 90 cm is a 90 cm cooker. Built-in single and double ovens come out at about 60 cm. Around 90 cm is a complete range or a single wide oven, depending on whether the front has one wide oven door or two next to each other. At 100 cm and over it is a master range. If the tape lands between those sizes, give the office the figure, the make and the model when you book.

Is it a double oven or a single with a grill?

Look for a second door. On a single oven with a grill there is only one door; the grill element sits in the roof of the cavity, so grilling and baking happen in the same space. A double has a second door above the first, and its grill is usually in that smaller top oven. Both can have a grill setting on the dial, so the dial alone will not tell them apart. The price follows the doors: one door is a single at £77, and two stacked doors are a double at £110.

Built-in ovens against freestanding cookers

A built-in oven is fitted into the kitchen units, under the worktop or in a tall housing at eye level, and has no hob of its own; any hob is set into the worktop above. A freestanding cooker stands between the units as one appliance, with the oven or ovens below and the hob on top. Where the oven is fitted has no bearing on its price, so a built-in double and a freestanding double are both £110. The hob is a separate item either way, at £28 for gas or £23 for ceramic or induction. The packages put a single or double oven with a standard hob and extractor together, at £117 with a single or £143 with a double.

Questions about oven types

What happens if I book the wrong oven type?

The cleaner compares the oven with the booking on arrival. If it is a different size or type, you hear about it before any work starts, and the new price is agreed with you first.

Why does the office ask for the make and model?

Some oven doors come apart so the glass between the panes can be cleaned, and others are fixed; the make and model tell the office which kind you have. They also help pin down the oven type and width before the visit.

How is a microwave priced?

A microwave is its own item at £22, separate from the oven types above. Booked alone it is below the £67 minimum and costs £67; added to an oven visit it stays at £22.
