A landlord letting a flat in Tower Hamlets cannot buy the council’s visitor vouchers, so between tenants the cleaner’s parking is paid at the kerb. That goes on at cost; the oven cleaning itself is £77 for a single with Cleaning Oven.

Tower Hamlets is a borough of blocks and renters. Eight in ten of its 120,539 households (80.7%) were in purpose-built flats in 2021, and renting privately, at 38.2%, was more common than renting from a social landlord (35.9%) or owning (23.1%). In Canary Wharf ward the private share reached 53.6%, the highest of any ward, with Whitechapel on 53.5%. So the oven most likely belongs to a let flat in E14 or E1, and the person booking may well be the landlord or the agent.

No visitor vouchers for Tower Hamlets landlords

The council sells visitor vouchers to residents only, through an online account; anyone letting the flat out, or owning it without living there, is refused them. Once the tenant has handed back the keys, nobody connected with the flat can get one. The cleaner then uses a cashless on-street bay, priced by zone and higher for diesels, and the bill shows what that cost, never above £40. The flat still has to be opened on the day. If nobody can let the cleaner in, up to £50 is kept, so settle with the agent or the outgoing tenant who will be there. For a flat between lets the oven, hob and hood can go in one booking, and the end of tenancy oven page sets out the timing around a check-out.

Getting up to a flat in Canary Wharf and Poplar towers

Canary Wharf Management calls its estate private and looks after some 40 acres of it, roads and walkways included, and the borough’s towers include the 27-storey Balfron Tower in Poplar and the 75-storey Landmark Pinnacle. Where a block has a concierge desk, the visit starts there. Say whether the concierge needs notice of a visitor and which lift reaches your floor, because the equipment travels up with the cleaner. Kitchens in purpose-built blocks are usually fitted with a built-in oven, one door or two, so count them before you ring. A double oven is £110, two trays included.

Tredegar Square’s terraces in Bow

Bow has a bigger share of houses than the borough as a whole. In Bow West ward terraced houses held 24.9% of households in 2021, and many of the three-storey terraces around Tredegar Square, which have basements, are now split into flats. A house kitchen may have the oven under a hob with a splashback behind; the hob is priced on the hob cleaning page and a splashback adds £26. Roman Road Market runs along a partly pedestrianised street, so a front door on the market stretch is worth mentioning. In Bow, zone B1 covers Monday to Saturday from half past eight to half past five, and zone B4 also runs on Sundays that bring a London Stadium event.

Questions about oven cleaning in Tower Hamlets

How many trays does the price for a flat oven include?

A single oven’s price takes in one tray and a double’s two, and shelves never count as extras. Any tray beyond those, or a stack of them from a busy kitchen, is £6 each.

Which Tower Hamlets bays are enforced late into the evening?

The usual pattern is weekdays only, from half past eight in the morning to half past five. Resident bays west of Brick Lane in E1 are enforced every day until 10pm, and Bethnal Green’s sub-zones A5 and A6 run into evenings and weekends.

Is a converted warehouse flat in Wapping any different?

Only in the getting there. Many of the warehouses beside the old London Docks are now homes, four or five storeys high along Wapping High Street, so mention the floor and any lift when you book. The oven itself is cleaned the same way: parts out to soak, the cavity, glass and seal by hand, then everything refitted and the oven switched on before the cleaner goes.
