The Waterloo and Queen Street estate is being rebuilt in phases, and a tenant leaving a flat there may want oven cleaning in Romford done before the keys go back; with Cleaning Oven a single is £77.

The three wards around the town centre, St Alban’s, St Edward’s and Rush Green & Crowlands, held 13,902 households in 2021. Purpose-built flats housed 38.2% of them, semis 27.7% and terraces 22.4%, and in St Edward’s ward, which holds the town centre, half of all households (50.8%) lived in a flat. Owners were 53.1% and social tenants 15.1%. The area spans RM1 and RM7, in the middle of Havering.

Rebuilding the Waterloo and Queen Street estate

Some 200 artisans’ cottages went up here in the decade and a half after about 1840, on streets that included Waterloo Road, St Andrew’s Road and Queen Street. After the war the area was rebuilt with council flats, and now the council and Wates plan 1,380 homes across all phases of the estate. Its 18 modular homes on Waterloo Road and Queen Street were due to finish in September 2026, and the council now describes them as completed, with residents moving in. Blocks 9 and 10, with 107 affordable homes, are planned to start in early 2027 and finish in late 2028. A move-out clean on the estate is booked like any other job: £77 for one oven door, £110 for two. With building work going on, tell the office which entrance and stairs to use and whether the lift is running. While the shelves, tray and side runners soak, the cleaner hand-cleans the oven’s walls and floor, then the door glass and the seal. Everything goes back in at the end, and the oven is run to check it heats.

Bay hours from South Street to Knighton Road

The council’s pay-by-phone bays on St Andrews Road, South Street, London Road and the High Street run from 8.30am to 6.30pm, with three hours at most and no return within two, and they cost nothing on a Sunday. Knighton Road and Norfolk Road stay chargeable until 8pm. The Angel Way car park, open 7am to 8pm with a 12-hour limit, is closed on Sundays. Birkbeck Road in Rush Green has the same three-hour limit. Parking goes on the bill at the price paid, capped at £40, and the office confirms the total for your address on the call.

The Birkbeck estate roads in Rush Green

By 1885 houses were going up on the small Birkbeck estate: Birkbeck Road, Grosvenor Road, Wolseley Road and West Road. In one of these houses the cooker may be freestanding or a double built into the units. A standard-width oven with two doors is priced as a double oven; measure anything wider than 60 cm, and see the oven types guide if the cooker is hard to place. Burnt-on carbon usually lifts. Rust, worn coatings and etched enamel stay as they are.

Questions about oven cleaning in Romford

Do Romford’s pay and display bays give a free first half hour?

No. Romford’s on-street pay and display bays charge from the first minute, the only ones in Havering without a free 30 minutes, so a bay the cleaner uses near South Street or the High Street is paid for throughout. You repay exactly what it cost, never more than £40.

My flat has a pyrolytic oven. Can it still be booked?

Yes. The office asks about self-cleaning settings on the call, together with the make and model, since some doors cannot be taken apart. The single oven cleaning page explains what the visit covers.

Does a flat over the shops in Romford town centre book the same way as a house?

Yes. Bookings come in on the phone line, open from 8am to 7pm every day, or through the form, with the date and the price agreed on the call. St Edward’s ward, which holds the town centre, had 50.8% of its households in a flat in 2021, and a flat there books just as a house in Rush Green does.
