With no Underground or rail station of its own, Collier Row is reached by road, so say where a car can stop near your door when you book oven cleaning in Collier Row. Cleaning Oven’s single oven is £77.

Collier Row was still largely rural until 1929, the year 80 acres of it were released for building. By 1939 more than half of the old Collier Row ward had been built up, with 1937 the busiest year, when some 1,500 house plans were passed. Large council estates followed after the war, at Collier Row itself and farther east at Chase Cross and Rise Park. The Valuation Office’s 2025 counts for Mawneys, the ward taking in most of Collier Row, date 47.1% of its homes to 1919 to 1939 and 43.4% to 1945 to 1999. In 2021 semis held 41.5% of its 5,487 households and terraces 32.7%, with flats at 17.8%, and 73.6% of households owned their home. The streets fall in RM5 and RM7, in the north-west of Havering.

Kitchens in the 1930s semis and post-war houses

In an interwar semi the oven might be a built-in single or double. It might also be a freestanding cooker with a hood on the wall above it. Before you ring, count the doors and run a tape across the front: a single is £77, and the guide to oven types sorts out anything less obvious. The hood can go on the same visit at £28. Its metal grease filters come out and soak with the oven shelves, tray and runners, while a carbon filter stays where it is, because most are designed to be replaced. The oven’s cavity, door glass and seal are then done by hand, and the glass inside the door is reached only on doors made to come apart. More is on the extractor cleaning page.

Rex Close car park and the Collier Row Road bays

Rex Close car park charges from 7am to 6pm with a 12-hour maximum stay, nothing on a Sunday and the first half hour at no cost, one such session a day across the borough. On the street, the pay-by-phone bays on Collier Row Road, Collier Row Lane, Clockhouse Lane and Carter Drive charge from 8.30am to 6.30pm, allow three hours at most and bar a return for two hours, and the service road off Collier Row Road and Hampden Road run 9am to 5pm. If your house has a drive the cleaner can use, say so; if the cleaner has to pay, you are billed the sum paid and no more than £40.

Questions about oven cleaning in Collier Row

We have just bought a 1930s semi in RM5. Can the oven be done before we move in?

Yes. A new owner can book the oven for the empty house, as long as someone is there to let the cleaner in and the water and power are on. Nearly half the homes in Mawneys ward went up between the wars, by the Valuation Office’s count, and a cooker left behind in a house of that age is priced by its doors and width like any other.

Do the Collier Row bay charges apply on a bank holiday?

They can. Havering keeps its parking restrictions in force on bank holidays, Christmas Day excepted, wherever no sign says different, so a bank holiday visit may pay the same on the Collier Row Road bays as a weekday one would. The cleaner’s parking is added at the sum paid, and everything else on the bill comes from the price list.

Does the cleaner check the oven before leaving?

Yes. Once every part is back in, the oven is switched on to make sure it works. Baked-on carbon on the walls and the door normally lifts; rust and worn or chipped enamel are damage and will still be there.
