An hour in a paid bay on Hyde Park Square costs about four-fifths more than one by Paddington station, and a single oven usually keeps the cleaner there for up to an hour and a half. Single oven cleaning is £77.

Hyde Park ward, the Westminster ward that takes in Paddington station, had 4,690 households in 2021. Purpose-built blocks held 76.4% of them, and another 9.2% were flats cut out of older houses. A flat in a W2 block usually has its oven built in, under the worktop or at eye level, with one door or two.

Zone B by the station, zone F by the squares

The council sets bay prices by zone and the hours of control by sub-zone. Paddington station, the Basin and Westbourne Terrace sit in B5. Praed Street is B7. Up by Hyde Park Square and Sussex Square the sub-zone is F1. All three charge for a bay, and enforce the single yellows, between 8.30am and 6.30pm every day bar Sunday. On the March 2026 tariffs an hour in zone F costs about four-fifths more than the zone B rate for the same car, both scaled by CO2 band, and diesels built before 2015 pay half as much again. Whatever the cleaner pays for the bay is added unchanged, with £40 as the ceiling, so the same oven can carry a different parking line on Hyde Park Square from one on Westbourne Terrace.

Stucco terraces and mews in the Bayswater conservation area

Bayswater became a conservation area in 1967 and was widened in 1978, 1990, 2002 and 2010. The 1827 plan set crescents and squares off two broad streets, Westbourne Terrace and Sussex Gardens. Much of it is stucco terraced houses, with smaller streets and mews between. Where a terrace house has been divided, the kitchen can be several flights up a shared staircase, so give the floor and the bell to ring. A whole house may have a wider cooker. At 90 cm one cavity is a single wide oven, £114, and a complete range is £143; a narrower cooker is priced as a single or double oven.

Licensed lets in Hyde Park ward

From 24 November 2025, letting almost any non-HMO home in 15 of the city’s 18 wards has required a selective licence, and Hyde Park ward is one of the 15. Between one tenancy and the next, an agent may want the oven cleaned while nobody is living there. The end of tenancy oven clean is the same visit as any other. Shelves, side runners and the fan cover where it unscrews go to soak; the cavity, seal and door glass are cleaned by hand in the flat. Somebody has to let the cleaner in, so settle who that will be before the date.

Questions about oven cleaning in Paddington

Is consent from the Hyde Park Estate needed for an oven clean?

That rests on your lease, which the Estate can confirm; the clean itself alters nothing in the flat, since the parts made to come out are soaked and put back and the oven stays where it is fitted. The Hyde Park Estate around Hyde Park Square is owned mainly by the Church Commissioners and was partly rebuilt after wartime bomb damage, with blocks of flats among the Victorian villas.

Can the cleaner also do the café kitchen below my flat near Paddington station?

No. Cleaning Oven works in homes only, so a café or other business kitchen is not offered. The streets by the station are more commercial than the rest of the Bayswater conservation area, and a flat there may sit over a shop; the oven in the flat itself is priced in the usual way.

Who pays if the cleaner buys a zone F trade permit?

You do, at cost; parking never adds more than £40 to the bill. A Westminster trade permit for zone F, which takes in the Hyde Park Square and Sussex Square streets, costs more than that cap, and one for zone B, round the station, a little less. Every other item has its own price on the prices page.

Is the extractor above the hob priced on its own?

Yes. A standard hood is £28. Its metal grease filters are soaked; carbon filters stay where they are, because most are made to be replaced. The extractor cleaning page has the detail.
