Before a house goes on the market, its owner can have the oven, hob, hood and splashback done in one booking. Oven cleaning in Winchmore Hill is £77 for a single oven, and owners held 69.2% of the ward’s households in 2021.

Winchmore Hill ward is mostly houses. Of its 3,999 households at the census, 31.8% lived in a semi, 20.4% in a terrace and 11.1% in a detached house. Flats made up 36.6%, and about half of those were cut from older houses. Social renting was rare at 4.8%. The ward takes in parts of N21 and N13 in Enfield.

The kitchen before a sale: oven, hob, hood and splashback

Booked together, a single oven, the hob and the extractor cost £117; with a double oven the three are £143. A splashback adds £26 and a microwave £22. On the day the oven’s shelves, trays and runners go into the soak first, followed by the burner caps and pan supports from the hob and the metal grease filters from the hood. The hand work covers the oven’s cavity and door glass and the top of the hob. Old carbon usually shifts. Etched enamel and scratched glass do not, and a buyer may still notice them. Book after the heavy cooking has stopped, with the oven cold and the water and power left on. More detail sits on the pages for hob cleaning and extractor hood cleaning.

Clapboard cottages and Georgian houses round The Green

The old village keeps cottages of wooden clapboard. Facing The Green, Rowantree House and Woodside House are listed together at Grade II, and on Hoppers Road a terrace goes back to about 1770. Parts of the ward are protected as conservation areas, Winchmore Hill Green from 1968 and Vicars Moor Lane from 1970. No house of that age was built with a fitted kitchen, so the cooker in one could be a plain 60 cm single or a full range. Measure it across before you ring; the oven types guide shows how the width and the number of doors set the price. In a narrow kitchen, leave a clear patch of floor by the oven for the racks.

The Winchmore Hill zone and its street signs

Enfield’s 2013 order for the zone kept its hours at the time, 10.30am to 11.30am on weekdays, extended it to more N21 streets, among them The Alders, Arlow Road, Haslemere Road and Hoodcote Gardens, and made Wilson Street a sub-zone controlled 9am to 6.30pm on weekdays. Those are the hours of 2013, so the signs in your street are the guide to the hours now. Outside a zone’s hours, Enfield lets anyone park in the bays. Any bay charge the cleaner meets is billed to you at its own price, capped at £40.

Questions about oven cleaning in Winchmore Hill

Is a freestanding cooker in a clapboard cottage on The Green priced like a built-in oven?

Yes. Old Winchmore Hill keeps wooden clapboard cottages near Woodside House and Rowantree House, and a cottage kitchen may have a cooker that stands free or an oven set into the units. The price follows the oven either way: a single costs £77 and a double £110, and a hob on top is priced as a hob of its own.

What if the viewing date moves and the visit has to change?

Change it 48 hours or more ahead and the deposit can be refunded or moved to the later date. Inside that window, or if the cleaner arrives and cannot get in, the company may keep up to £50. As a consumer you still have the 14-day cancellation right set by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

My home is on Wilson Street. Do its longer controls change the parking for a visit?

They can. Enfield’s 2013 order gave Wilson Street a sub-zone of its own, controlled from 9am to 6.30pm on weekdays. The rest of the Winchmore Hill zone kept its single hour, 10.30am to 11.30am, so a weekday visit on Wilson Street is more likely to meet a paid bay. That cost reaches your bill at the figure paid, up to £40.
